I was off to the market to buy Organic poultry seasoning and decided to first have a look on-line for a homemade recipe. As I mention probably too often throughout this site, I’m not a fan of salt. Many pre-mixed seasonings are heavily salted. The below recipe is a combination of a few recipes found on line. It was so easy I will never buy pre-mixed seasonings again. Use jarred spices for an expedited version, fresh spices for a “labor of love” version.
ORGANIC INGREDIENTS
1 T marjoram
3 T savory
3 T parsley
3 T onion powder
3 T thyme
3 T sage
3 T rosemary
3 T basil
1/2 T ground black pepper (fresh)
1 t paprika (smoked if available)
1 t ground ginger
1 t nutmeg
1 t celery seed
DIRECTIONS
Mix all ingredients together, and then grind in a spice / coffee grinder. Seasoning mix can be stored in an air tight glass jar for at least 3 months.
